Afghanistan - IED Clearance Ltd Medallion

The exceptional Afghanistan - IED Clearance Limited Edition Medallion, order now from Australia's leading military site - Military Shop. The threat of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) has long been a hallmark of the Afghanistan war. The use of IEDs increased exponentially in 2006 and despite new techniques and tactics to detect and defeat the devices before detonation, it was predominately the role of combat engineers to seek out and neutralise explosive threats. These deadly homemade bombs have been left at roadsides in the carcasses of animals, disguised as rubbish or set into curbs or walls.

IEDs claimed 40 per cent of Australian troops killed in action during Operation Slipper and accounted for more than 60 percent of those wounded.

This Limited Edition Medallion shows a member of the Mentoring task Force searching for IEDs. The medallion is minted in solid brass alloy with a highly polished silver finish. The reverse features the Australian flag over the rugged Afghan mountains with word Afghanistan reproduced in English and Arabic script.

The medallion is enclosed in a sturdy clear protector and set in a quality leatherette case. Only 500 individual medallions are available, and each comes with numbered certificate of authenticity.
